The warning from my boss

“Fine next time I will here on time, please forgive me” I say feeling so nervous I can feel the sweat trickling down my head.

“You better Tom, or I will have to demote you, or worse, fire you.” My boss explained.

“Yes, sir” I say and walk out of his office.

I look at my watch, it read 11:40 AM. I knew this couldn’t do this again.

“Tom, where were you? And why are you so late?” My friend asks me.

I explain what had happened. “Oh, now I get it” I look at my watch,

“12:00 PM, my lunch break”

  1. Hello Thomas,

You have made good use of speech in your story about Tom’s experience at work.
As I read, I realised Tom probably won’t keep his job. Being in trouble for being late arriving, his first thought twenty minutes later was it’s time for lunch. I don’t think the boss would like him taking lunch if he had been very late arriving at work. Well done.

  2. Oh dear, I think Tom really does have some explaining to do. I can understand why his boss would be angry, especially if he then headed off to lunch so soon!
I enjoyed your story. Thank you for sharing,
